Arbor Pro's accreditations — ISA member, EHAP certified, PA licensed

Here is what we carry and why it matters.

Pennsylvania Contractor License

Arbor Pro’s LLC holds Pennsylvania Home Improvement Contractor (HMIC) Registration PA079160, issued by the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s office under the Home Improvement Consumer Protection Act (Act 132 of 2008). To obtain and maintain this registration, a contractor must carry a minimum of $50,000 in general liability insurance, submit to a background review, and agree to comply with all provisions of the HIPA — including providing written contracts for jobs over $500 and maintaining accurate business records. The registration can be verified at consumer.pa.gov. For homeowners, this matters because unregistered contractors have no accountability under Pennsylvania law: if a dispute arises, there is no legal mechanism for recourse. Hiring a registered contractor gives you documented protection and a clear path to resolution if anything goes wrong.

Pennsylvania State Vendor Registration

We are a registered Pennsylvania State Vendor (#421406), which means we are qualified to perform contract work for state agencies, municipalities, and government entities. This registration requires additional vetting beyond standard licensing.

EHAP Line Clearance Certification

Our crews hold EHAP (Electrical Hazards Awareness Program) certification for line clearance work — one of the most important and least common credentials in the regional tree service industry. EHAP was developed by the Utility Arborist Association in accordance with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.269, the federal standard governing work on or near energized electrical lines and equipment. Certification requires completing structured classroom and field training covering electrical hazard recognition, minimum approach distances, proper grounding procedures, and safe work practices near high-voltage lines. Crew members must pass both a written exam and a practical skills assessment, and the certification must be renewed on a regular cycle to remain current. EHAP is a prerequisite for any company performing utility line clearance, vegetation management contracts, or powerline trimming for utility providers. We hold an active utility contract with United Electric and have performed major line clearance projects for FirstEnergy. Most local tree services do not carry this credential because the training is rigorous and the work rarely comes up for non-utility contractors. For homeowners, this matters whenever a tree is near a power line: an uncertified crew working in that environment risks electrocution, outages, and serious liability. Our EHAP-certified crews know exactly how close is too close, how to coordinate with the utility, and when work must stop.

Full Insurance Coverage

Arbor Pro’s LLC carries full general liability insurance and workers’ compensation coverage on every crew member. Workers’ compensation is worth understanding in detail, because many homeowners don’t realize what happens when it’s absent. Under Pennsylvania law, if an uninsured worker is injured on your property, you — the property owner — can be held personally liable for their medical expenses, lost wages, and related costs. This is not a technicality: it has happened to homeowners who hired the cheapest bid and only found out about the gap when a claim arrived. General liability insurance covers damage to your property — a dropped limb through a roof, a fence struck by equipment, or a driveway cracked by heavy machinery. Both coverages work together to protect you completely. We are happy to provide a current certificate of insurance before any work begins — just ask. If any contractor hesitates to provide one, that is a clear warning sign.

CPR and First Aid Certification

All crew members maintain current CPR and First Aid certifications. Tree work is inherently dangerous, and we take every precaution to ensure our team can respond to an emergency on the job site.
