Arbor Pro’s Tree Service provides tree removal and vegetation management near energized utility lines. We are EHAP-certified (Electrical Hazards Awareness Program), fully insured with workers’ compensation, and operate a dedicated second crew for utility line clearance work. Our utility contracts include an ongoing agreement with United Electric and other local companies in the Central Pennsylvania region.
EHAP Certification
The Electrical Hazards Awareness Program (EHAP) is the industry-standard certification for tree workers operating within proximity of energized conductors. It covers minimum approach distances, proper grounding procedures, and the protocols required by utility companies before any cutting begins. Our crews hold current EHAP certification. This certification is required for legitimate utility line clearance work.
Utility & Power Line Services
Our utility vegetation management services include power line right-of-way clearing, hazard tree removal along transmission and distribution corridors, storm response and emergency line clearance, routine cycle trimming to maintain conductor clearance, and whole-tree removal of encroaching species near infrastructure. We run a dedicated second crew for utility work, so utility contracts do not delay our residential and commercial operations.
Equipment
Utility line clearance often involves trees in locations where conventional equipment cannot reach — steep right-of-way cuts, rural transmission corridors, and roadside work with traffic management requirements. The 65-ton COPMA 650 knuckle boom crane with grapple saw can reach, cut, and extract whole trees from 100 feet away without requiring a climber near the conductors. This reduces the need for workers to operate directly adjacent to energized lines. Our spider lifts — a 92-foot CMC and a 75-foot TEUPEN — access terrain that wheeled bucket trucks cannot reach, including soft ground, slopes, and narrow easement paths.
Utility Contract Experience
Our ongoing contract with United Electric Cooperative covers routine vegetation management and emergency response across their service territory. We completed other hazard tree removal projects for local line companies involving large trees along transmission corridors in Central Pennsylvania. Both contracts required full EHAP certification, proof of workers’ compensation, liability insurance, and compliance with utility-specific safety protocols.
Residential Trees Near Power Lines
Trees on residential properties can also grow into or fall onto power lines. Removing a tree near energized lines requires coordination with the utility company, safe work zone establishment, and EHAP-certified personnel. Our crews handle this process from initial assessment through final removal, following all required utility coordination protocols.
Service Area
We provide utility line clearance and vegetation management throughout Clearfield County, Centre County, Jefferson County, Elk County, and beyond. For large-scale utility and right-of-way projects, our service area extends further — contact us to discuss project scope and timeline.
