Tree Trimming and Pruning in DuBois, PA

Branches that scrape the roof, a limb hanging over the driveway, a canopy so thick the lawn under it has given up. Most trimming calls start with something you have been watching for a season or two.
Arbor Pro’s Tree Service trims and prunes trees in DuBois and across Clearfield, Centre, Jefferson, and Elk Counties. Our shop is in Curwensville, the same county. When you call, you reach the company that does the work. We come and look at the trees in person before we quote anything.

Trimming on DuBois lots
DuBois and Sandy Township became one City of DuBois on January 5, 2026, so a single address can mean a downtown lot or a lakefront one. The trimming is different on each:
- Downtown DuBois: older street trees, narrow lots, alley access, and service wires running through the branches. Clearance work here is about keeping limbs off the wires, roof and gutters.
- Treasure Lake: wooded and lakefront lots where the tree often stands uphill of the house and the driveway is steep. A bucket truck cannot get in. Our spider lifts can.
- Older neighborhoods and the country outside town: tall white pine and hemlock over roofs and garages, and long driveways and fence lines where a limb can block the lane.
Trimming or pruning? What the tree needs
Trimming shapes a tree and keeps it clear of the house, the wires and the driveway. Pruning works on the tree’s health: dead, diseased or crossing branches, and weight taken off limbs that reach too far. Many DuBois jobs need both.
You likely need one of them if:
- a branch touches or hangs over the roof, siding or gutters,
- dead or broken limbs show in the canopy,
- low limbs block the walkway, driveway or your line of sight,
- the canopy is dense enough that the lawn and the inside of the tree get no light,
- a limb is growing toward a service line,
- a storm left a torn or hanging branch.
For major pruning on most Central Pennsylvania species, late winter through early spring is the ideal window. Hazard trimming and dead-limb removal can be done any time of year.
Wind along the I-80 corridor
Wind comes through the I-80 corridor every year and loads the long limbs first. Taking weight off an overextended limb and removing dead wood before the season gives a storm less to work on. If the damage has already happened, see Emergency Tree Service.
Ash trees that are still standing
Emerald ash borer is established across Pennsylvania, and the whole state is under a federal quarantine for it (PA Department of Agriculture). A dead ash turns brittle, and a limb can drop without warning. If an ash needs more than a trim, we will tell you so. Full removal is on the DuBois tree removal page.
Reaching the canopy safely
Trimming a 20-foot ornamental is simple. Trimming an oak that overhangs a house is not. Our 92-foot CMC spider lift and 75-foot TEUPEN spider lift reach canopy height in tight backyards and on steep ground. Where heavy limbs have to come off near a structure, our knuckle boom crane with a grapple saw cuts and lifts them out. Protective ground mats go down on every job. We leave your property exactly as we found it.
Our crews are EHAP-certified (Electrical Hazards Awareness Program), which covers work near energized lines.
“I have used Arbor Pros twice in the past. Each time they did a thorough job in trimming my trees and cleaning up the yard afterward.”
